Dramyst: ready? Marquis: lol sure, but I may be a bit slow with responses; the first hour or I get a lot of calls Dramyst: Yeah, I use to do the whole phone sex thing Dramyst: I know it gets busy Marquis: It’s tough ya know? Dramyst: The questions aren’t that tough Dramyst: Question #1- How did you come up with your name? Marquis: hehe Marquis: Well, my real name is Mark, and I wanted my very first WoW character to be close and dear to me Marquis: The obscure noblesse title “marquis” has always interested me, and I was amazed that it was not taken Dramyst: Question #2- How long have you been playing WoW? Marquis: Since beta, actually. Aaah now I miss the days of jumping off mid-flightpath and taking no fall damage to get to your “real” destination Marquis: Priests had a lot of fun spells in beta too before they were reworked/gutted from the class Dramyst: Such as? Marquis: we had a mana drain spell, a “holy protection” (back when holy was a resistance). Sleep etc. Marquis: Also back in beta undead could speak Common and therefore communicate cross-faction, and were classified as undead and not humanoids for PvP purposes, meaning we had fear immunity and all that fun stuff Dramyst: Question #3- Why Priest? And why shadow? Marquis: Really one and the same question for me, hehe Marquis: Back when I started I had a whole smattering of alts and would bounce around playing them all Marquis: I wanted to be sure I’d gotten a good taste of everything before I found out what was most interesting, fun, and suitable to my style Marquis: I’d done my research and decided that if I were a priest, I’d love to be shadow (which is partly why I chose undead as well when I made him) Marquis: and then I stuck with him and I visited Undercity for the first time late one night and it just sort of hit me, like love at first sight. I knew Marquis was the one. Marquis: since then the highest I’ve ever managed to level another character was a BE Pally to 20, just because I had to Marquis: He then got stripped of his equipment and parked naked in Org to be my bank/AH slave… Dramyst: Question #4- How did you come to be in HoC? Marquis: I was running around untagged at the time after having bad experiences with other guilds. If one thing was certain, I wasn’t going to make the same mistake again; I was going to join only the best. Marquis: I wasn’t wild about raiding at the time, and didn’t really know if HoC was super-focused on that either initially, but Zakura and Ragfoo convinced me to apply just because you all are so awesome Marquis: and then of course I got tagged in the middle of a Kara run, hehe Dramyst: I’m sure that’s not true, it’s against policy Dramyst: Liar Dramyst: Moving on… Marquis: hmmm, maybe it was right after? Marquis: I knew I was asked in the middle of kara, at least, because even I was kind of surprised Dramyst: I was kidding Marquis: Aah yeah I may have taken a night to sleep on it or something Marquis: I was really serious about not joining up with another guild I didn’t know well or feel really good about… again >< Dramyst: I think… deep in your heart…. You knew we pwned. Marquis: Something profound definitely clicked. Dramyst: Question #5- 51 Point shadow talent should be…what? Marquis: Haha, oh dear. There are so many areas of priests that definitely need some addressing, and I’d be tempted to propose a 51-point talent that would somehow deal with them. Marquis: but having to dip 51-points into a tree to fix a fundamentally broken mechanic is kind of silly, and I’d hope Blizzard would be better. Marquis: some kind of shadow AE, perhaps a nova + knockback like a lot of mobs have, could be nice (but would also detract from our speciality – single target focused damage) Marquis: It’s tough to speculate because you never know if what you think is truly the best. Pre-TBC, nobody could have imagined Vampiric Touch, but it’s quite possibly the best thing that ever happened to shadow priestage. Dramyst: How about some sort of damage over time spell? That seems like an un-tapped well of originality Marquis: Yeah, a third DOT wouldn’t be bad, but if they keep pushing haste it could just leave us that much more unscaleable. Marquis: I guess for a 51 point talent I’d like a button that I can press to actually create some good shadow priest itemization that isn’t sporadic, lopsided, off-set, etc. Dramyst: you don’t want an aggro dump? Dramyst: or some sort of mana regen Dramyst: or dual wield? Marquis: Mana regen would be pointless; a shadowpriests job is to chain chug pots and and remain self-sufficient Marquis: A threat dump would be absolutely incredible, but it seems too unlikely and I’d hate to get my hopes up Dramyst: Imagine how wonderful a threat drop would be while I type the next question Marquis: you mean if I bribe a warlock? ;D Marquis: mwahahahahahahahaa Dramyst: Question #6- Has Slann ever threatened to cut you? Cause hell do it, hes fucking crazy man Dramyst: HELL FUCKING DO IT MAN Dramyst: I SWEAR TO GOD HE WILL Dramyst: Question #7- Chocolate or Vanilla? Marquis: (A) bring it chump, I’ve been pwning mages since before you were feral. (B) both in moderation; chocolate if the vanilla sucks Dramyst: Question #8- Why you gotta be? What you got? Cmon punk, lets see. Think you’re hot stuff? I see you. I SEEYOU BRING IT Dramyst: Question #9- Knock knock Marquis: Would you like me to pwn you as shadow or holy/disc? Or maybe both? Marquis: LIKE WHO IS THERE??? Dramyst: An interrupting cow Marquis: An interrupting cow who? Dramyst: MOO Dramyst: hmm Dramyst: that didn’t work Marquis: /comfort Dramyst: Question #10- As you know, being in the member spotlight gets you 50g. how do you plan on spending such a massive amount of gold? Marquis: Sounds like about a third of what I spend on consumables for a night’s raiding so…. I’ll spend it on raiding? Marquis: OR MAYBE DISNEYLAND Marquis: tough call Dramyst: thank you very much for your time, keep up the pwn Marquis: thanks
